Alexander Samokhvalov was a highly esteemed Soviet artist known for his work as a painter, graphic artist, muralist, and poster artist. He was born in Bezhetsk, Tver province, and began his artistic journey at the Higher Art School at the Imperial Academy of Arts, followed by the Petrograd Free Art Workshops.

Throughout his career, Samokhvalov was associated with various artistic organizations in Leningrad and Moscow. He taught at the Department of Monumental and Decorative Painting at the Leningrad Higher Art and Industrial School named after Vera Mukhina and was a member of several artists' associations, including the "Circle of Artists" and the "Society of Painters."

His artistic contributions were widely recognized, and his works were exhibited in prestigious galleries and museums in Leningrad, Moscow, and other countries. Alexander Samokhvalov's legacy lives on through his artworks displayed in the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, and various museums and private collections around the world.

Samokhvalov passed away in Leningrad in 1971, leaving behind a remarkable cultural and historical heritage that continues to be celebrated to this day.
