Regrettably, information about this artist's life is limited. The painter was born in the Ryazan Governorate. It is possible that he studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts under Bogdan Willewalde (1872-73).

Alexey Akininov belongs to the Russian realistic school of painting and is closely associated with the Peredvizhniki movement. His small artistic legacy is preserved in the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow) and in painting galleries and art museums in Tula and Kursk.
