Edmon Suliman-Grudzinsky
/1854–1916/

Edmon Suliman-Grudzinsky, born in St. Petersburg, was a talented painter whose biography remains relatively obscure. He received his training in easel painting under the guidance of Nikolai Sverchkov, a renowned artist known for his expertise in battle and genre painting.

In March 1888, Suliman-Grudzinsky joined the Imperial Porcelain Factory, where he served as an artist in the workshop specializing in underglaze painting. It was here that he displayed his exceptional skills, particularly in the mastery of the pat-sur-pat technique. Eager to expand his knowledge and refine his craft, he embarked on visits to porcelain factories in Sweden and Denmark, diligently studying their techniques of underglaze painting.
