Kalle Kuutola
/1886-1974/
Kalle Kuutola was a Finnish painter, born in a small village called Hirvijärvi, located in the municipality of Vehmaa, Finland. Kuutola showed an interest in art from a young age and started attending art classes in the city of Turku when he was only 16 years old. In 1906, he moved to Helsinki to study at the Finnish Art Society Drawing School.
Kuutola became known for his landscapes, which often depicted the Finnish countryside and its nature in a romantic and emotional way. He was also inspired by the Finnish national epic Kalevala, and many of his paintings were based on its stories and characters. In addition to landscapes, Kuutola painted still lifes and portraits. Kuutola was a member of the Finnish Art Society and participated in several of their exhibitions. He also exhibited his works in other galleries both in Finland and abroad, including in Paris and Rome. In 1925, he was awarded the Pro Finlandia medal for his contributions to Finnish art.
