Konstantin Kryzhitsky
/1858-1911/

Konstantin Kryzhitsky, born in 1858 in Kyiv, was a talented artist who was deeply influenced by the beautiful landscapes surrounding his childhood home. His paintings, characterized by meticulous attention to detail and a profound appreciation for nature, captured the essence of the stunning scenes that had left an indelible mark on his heart. Despite initial recognition of his artistic abilities during his schooling years, it wasn't until he enrolled in a new art school at the age of seventeen that Kryzhitsky fully embraced his passion for painting. He later joined the St. Petersburg Art Academy, where he became the top student in his class. However, Kryzhitsky's independent nature clashed with the academy's strict traditions, leading to a brief conflict. Nonetheless, he successfully graduated and received acclaim for his graduation work, "Oaks," which showcased his unique style and ability to convey both the clarity of nature and his own emotions in each landscape.

Tragically, Kryzhitsky's life was cut short in 1911 when he took his own life. He left behind a significant collection of paintings that are now displayed in museums across Russia and Ukraine. His artwork continues to captivate viewers with its intricate beauty and serves as a testament to his immense talent. Kryzhitsky's profound love for nature, people, and the world around him is evident in his works, which evoke a sense of joy and appreciation for the wonders of the natural world.
