Konstantin Yuon

Konstantin Yuon, a renowned Russian painter and theater designer, was closely associated with the artistic movement "Mir Iskusstva" (World of Art). Later, he played a key role in co-founding both the Union of Russian Artists and the Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia.
Born in Moscow to a family with Swiss-Russian heritage, Yuon's artistic journey began at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture, studying under distinguished teachers like Konstantin Savitsky and Konstantin Korovin. He further honed his skills with private lessons from Valentin Serov and drew inspiration from the cityscapes of Paris and the Impressionists.
In 1900, Yuon opened Moscow's first private painting and drawing school, nurturing the talents of many prominent Russian painters. His artistic contributions extended to theater sets, enriching plays at the Moscow Art Theatre and the Maly Theater. During the Soviet era, Yuon held important roles and received numerous accolades for his exceptional work.
