Maria Djagoupova was a painter and graphic artist who studied at the Drawing school of the Society for the encouragement of arts in Petrograd and the studio of Fedor Rerberg in Moscow. She lived in various cities in Russia, including Armavir and Leningrad, and was evacuated to Perm during the Great Patriotic War.

Djagoupova was the author of landscape paintings, portraits, still life, and thematic compositions. She executed designs for fabrics, propaganda posters, and illustrations for books. Djagoupova participated in exhibitions across the Soviet Union, and her works were exhibited abroad in Stockholm and Berlin. She was a member of the Union of artists of the USSR. In the second half of the 1950s, she worked extensively in the technique of color lithography and authored several songs.
