Pavel Tchelitchew was a talented painter, graphic artist, and set designer born in Moscow, Russia. He received his initial art education at a monastery icon painting workshop and later explored constructivism and Cubism. He worked on theatrical productions in various cities and was influenced by renowned artists of his time. In Berlin, he collaborated with theaters and film studios, showcasing his unique style with vibrant colors and dynamic sketches.

Tchelitchew's career took a new direction when he settled in Paris and became a decorator for Sergei Diaghilev. His interest in astrology and the occult inspired him to paint in a surreal manner, earning him fame as an outstanding theater decorator and painter. He joined the association of "neo-Romantics" and created some of his most famous works, such as "Phenomenon" and "Hide and Seek." Throughout the 1930s, he collaborated with choreographers, designing ballets for renowned theaters.

When World War II began, Pavel Tchelitchew moved to New York and later returned to Europe, settling in Frascati near Rome. He continued to work in his surrealist style until his passing, leaving behind a legacy of unique and captivating artworks.
